Music Monday! NEW Drake, Pitbull, Dr. Dre, and Tough Love

Happy Monday!

This week’s Music Monday features a few new songs that I am totally in LOVE with!

Of course, after the Meek Mill vs. Drake debacle, it was only right to include Drake’s new single, which I am sure is going to be a hit.

Let’s get started!

Drake – “Hotline Bling”

I am so in love with this track! I went to visit my family this past weekend and my little sister introduced me to this song. I have been playing it on repeat since then. I really think that women are going to make this song a hit. It appeals more to women with it’s clever lyrics and simple flow. Even Lorde agrees! Forget about the beef with Meek Mill, you NEED to listen to this track. It is now available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and Soundcloud.

Pitbull – “Piensas” ft. Gente de Zona

If you have attended one of my Zumba classes before, you know I am OBSESSED with Pitbull. I have been a Pitbull fan since the tender age of 14 when Pitbull released his debut album M.I.A.M.I., lead single being “Culo” . It was the soundtrack choice of quinces and parties for the next few years. If you remember this was before Pitbull put on a suit and became the AMAZING artist and business man he is today. Piensas, the second single released November of last year from Pitbull’s album Dale, is a smooth reggaeton mixed with salsa beats from Gente de Zona. A Spanglish version of the song with Shaggy was released on July 24, 2015 on Spotify. Dale is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Dr. Dre – “Talk About It” ft. Justus & King Mez

After a 14-year hiatus, Dr. Dre is back with a soundtrack for the biopic, Straight Outta Compton, based on the life and times of N.W.A. For a person of his success and status, I expected the album to be well thought out, but mediocre in overall delivery. The album is surprisingly good and it really elevates Dr. Dre as a producer and overall artist. My favorite song so far on the album is Talk About It, which features up-and-coming rapper King Mez and little-known Dallas rapper Justus. Dr. Dre is known for finding new talent and transforming them into legends. I love this song, because in simple terms, it goes HARD. Dr. Dre’s new album was released on Friday, August 7, 2015 and is available now on iTunes.

Tough Love – “Pony (Jump On It)” ft. Ginuwine

With Tough Love’s rendition on Ginuwine’s Pony, it is clear that the late 90s/early 2000s are making a comeback! I don’t know about you, but I miss me some R&B. Tough Love mixes the original Pony with EDM elements to create a song that appeals to today’s generation without losing the “sexiness” of the original. I love this mix and will definitely be adding it to my workout playlist this week!  The single was released on Friday, August 7, 2015. You can find the song on iTunes and Apple Music.

These were my top picks for the week!

Stay in love,

Hello Texas!!! A Recap of our Trip to Colombia and Upcoming Giveaway!

Snapshot of us at the Austin airport before taking off!

I’m baaaaaaack!!! Please excuse any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, as I am way too excited to write this post!

We had an AMAZING time on our trip to Colombia!

Getting to Colombia was easy. We flew out of Austin, TX to Houston, TX. Then from Houston, TX to Bogota, Colombia. When we left Austin, the heat was unbearable so, naturally, we were wearing shorts and lightweight shirts. When we arrived at the airport in Bogota we were freezing! If you plan on going into Bogota during the US summer months, pack a sweater and jeans! Everyone at the terminal was prepared and wearing jeans, boots, and sweaters. We had to wait 4 hours in Bogota for our flight to Armenia, Colombia. Continue reading

#HugsShouldntHurt: My Relationship With Running and Falling in Love

This post is sponsored by Violet iodine, but all opinions expressed in this post are entirely my own.

One night after going out with my girlfriends and dancing, I met up with my ex boyfriend. When he came in for a hug, the pressure of the hug pushed into my chest and caused the worst pain I had ever felt. When I told him about this, he told me it was because I had gained weight and that only “girls with something wrong” get that kind of pain.

What? haha

Soon after that, I started running. I felt ugly and unfixable. I really thought there was something wrong with me. After my period came and went, the pain went away. I was convinced that the running I was doing was the cure to my breast discomfort.

I became a runner in a matter of months and I loved it. My ex ended up breaking up with me because he fell for his class project partner and told me, “She likes to work out and is super fit. And that is something I really want in a girlfriend.” Cool. Continue reading

Dear Donald Trump: Thank You

Dear Donald Trump,

Thank you.

You have reminded me of how blessed and lucky I am.

My grandparents on my father’s side came to the United States after they applied to be residents and were accepted. This amazing country reviewed an application and granted them resident status. This country accepted my grandparents even though, according to you, they were most likely involved in drugs, crime, and rape. That didn’t seem to impact the decision to let them reside in this country. Continue reading

“At. Long. Last. A$AP” – A$AP Rocky

at-long-last-asap

At. Long. Last. A$AP is the second studio album by American hip hop recording artist A$AP Rocky. It was released on May 26, 2015, by A$AP Worldwide, Polo Grounds Music and RCA Records.

A$AP Rocky comes out swinging with his new album. The whole album itself is a carefully planned soundtrack to our lives. all walks of like can relate in one way or another to every song. Not only are the songs amazing, but A$AP Rocky brings on collaborations with guest verses from Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Future, M.I.A., Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) and UGK, including Pimp C, who died in 2007. Rod Stewart and Miguel sing on one song.

As a music lover, I love all the different sounds that are used on this album. The album is laden with samples, from soul to Southern rock to indie rock. Nothing is too out of reach for A$AP Rocky. Continue reading

#PlannerLoveGiveaway: Heidi Swapp Memory Planner and Goodies

20150623_180330000_iOS

Planners. I absolutely loved planners! I have always been organized, or at least as far as I can remember. I like things being in one place all the time. I like knowing where everything is. I like knowing what I have to do for the day. This tendency to over-organize can be seen as something a Type-A(wesome) person might do. Little did I know that this whole time, there were many other Type Awesome people out there just like me.

I bought my first paper planner from Target during college. There is just something about putting a pen to paper that really solidifies something for me. This year I bought my first “luxury” planner from Erin Condren and with that I found this community of planner girls and planner love! Not only did all these women inspire me to be more organized in my day to day, but they showed me this online community that spread across borders to other cities, states, and countries.
