“I Used to Love Hearing Every Rhyme.”
“I Used to Love Hip Hop in its Essence is Real.”
The day I fell in LOVE with Hip-Hop. Thursday, February 17, 2011. I was 21.
I had just been dumped by a guy who fell for his classmate, Victoria, who he would “tutor”.
It was the first time since my freshman year of college that I had been left for another woman. This time, though, I wasn’t left wondering. He straight up told me, “I like Victoria, so we need to break up.” That summer he told me the fling lasted 2 weeks and that he regretted his decision immediately after. Haha Funny how things work out that way. Continue reading
In case you missed it (which I doubt because this has been the IT story on social media other than the #BringBackOurGirls campaign).
TMZ leaked security footage of what is supposedly a Solange (Beyonce’s sister) and Jay-Z having an argument in the elevator. Solange goes ahead to slap and kick Jay-Z.
There hasn’t been a public statement made from either party and no one is really sure if it actually happened. And if it did happen what was the reason behind all the rage?
Here is the TMZ video again for all of those who have yet to see it.
Hello my readers!!
I have been completely slacking and busy, so I haven’t been keeping up with the blog. I promise that will change soon once this month is over.
I wanted to take some time to write about SXSW fashion and what I hope to wear and see other women wearing on the streets of Austin this week. It’s always tough for me to choose what to wear to music festivals and concerts. My style is all over the place, but if I could choose an outfit all of the following would be top contenders. My choice of style stems a lot from the types of shows I plan to attend.
I will post pictures of all my outfits later this week when I finally have vacation and spend my days at south by!
Valentine’s Day. That day of the year when most of the women in relationships set really high expectations, only to be disappointed. That day of the year that all the single women post about how amazing it is to be single and secretly envy all those in relationships.
Two years ago I was that single woman. I pretended I hated the holiday. I went to eat wings (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE) and beer with my single friends. We laughed and talked about how stupid educated women are for getting into long term relationships at our age. We kept saying, “You don’t NEED a man to make you happy.” But, I went home that night and cried myself to sleep thinking, “But, it would be nice to have one.” Continue reading
“I’m a grown woman
I can do whatever I want
I’m a grown woman
I can do whatever I want
I can be bad if I want
I can do wrong if I want
I can live fast if I want
I can go slow all night long…”

All my life, or ever since I can remember, I have done what my parents told me to do. I rebelled a little between the ages of 14 to 16, but nothing too major or out of this world. I was taught that in order to be PERFECT, I had to be perfect at everything. That included being the perfect daughter.
When I finally graduated from college and started my journey in the real world, my boyfriend pointed out how I still seek my parents’ approval for everything I do. He was right. Anything I bought, my 401K, my apartment, my job, etc. all had to be approved by my parents before I went on with it. It seemed really silly to my boyfriend and even to my coworkers that I basically couldn’t make a decision without them. Continue reading
