One night after going out with my girlfriends and dancing, I met up with my ex boyfriend. When he came in for a hug, the pressure of the hug pushed into my chest and caused the worst pain I had ever felt. When I told him about this, he told me it was because I had gained weight and that only “girls with something wrong” get that kind of pain.

What? haha

Soon after that, I started running. I felt ugly and unfixable. I really thought there was something wrong with me. After my period came and went, the pain went away. I was convinced that the running I was doing was the cure to my breast discomfort.

I became a runner in a matter of months and I loved it. My ex ended up breaking up with me because he fell for his class project partner and told me, “She likes to work out and is super fit. And that is something I really want in a girlfriend.” Cool. Continue reading

Green Garden Chinese Restaurant

19922 Park Row Drive
Katy, TX 77449-4915

I love take out. I have been to almost every “Chinese” food place near me. And it’s almost always the same. Sometimes it’s too sweet or too sour or doesn’t have enough taste. The chicken usually comes out in small pieces and is a mixture of light and dark meat. I’ve never had AMAZING Chinese food, but there have been some that come close.

From the day I started dating my boyfriend, he had been telling me about the BEST Chinese food he had ever had. He would talk about it every time we tried somewhere new and he could not help himself but compare it to what he says is the best.

About two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to go to Houston. On our last day there, he finally decided to show me this Chinese food heaven that he had been bragging out for the last 3 years.

And let me tell you…

IT WAS AMAZING! Continue reading

My Journey to Loving My Body: Day 1

97f03da09abba64aa05fb091ccba92e7

I am that girl who goes to the gym everyday. Some of you may call me a “gym rat” and I am a proud one at that.

But, I am also the girl who drinks beer and eats pizza and wings any chance she can. I love wings and can literally eat them all day, every day. I love to eat chips with sandwiches and just as a snack on their own. I love food and I love to eat. Even worse, I am a Latina, so I am constantly around delicious food at all and every family gathering no matter how big or small.

For as long as I can remember, I have been the “chubby” one of my family. Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Pablito’s Bakery in Austin, TX

pablitos_10926

I discovered Pablito’s Bakery because a friend from back home checked in there one Sunday morning raving about their menudo and barbacoa. Living in Austin, TX I have lowered my expectations for Mexican food and have never found anything in this city that can ever come close to the Mexican food from my hometown of Del Rio, TX. So when I saw someone from my hometown raving about a Mexican food place in Austin, I just KNEW I had to try it out.

I went on a Saturday morning after teaching my 8:15 am Zumba class. I was excited, but at the same time I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Continue reading
